innovation, but artificial intelligence (AI) may force companies to trade one for the other.\nAt the Singapore Computer Society's Tech3 Forum, DBS Group CEO Tan Su Shan says the pace at which new AI models and patches arrive is straining how companies normally put technology into production.\n\"Resiliency over speed. Resiliency over innovation. It is resiliency above everything else. But, in this [AI era], we might have to balance a trade-off between resiliency and speed,\" she says.\nThe question is live at DBS because AI agents are now being built so widely inside the bank. Employees build and use their own agents on DBSGPT, an internal platform that sits on the bank's own premises and does not allow application programming interfaces (APIs) to pull all of its data, shares Tan. AI agents that touch production systems face tighter limits.\nThis matters because AI agents can act across systems rather than simply generate a response to a prompt. Once they handle customer information or are allowed to act within a business process, the consequences of a weak control become more serious.\n\"If our [AI] agents are going to talk to customers, [we must] make sure the data is correct,\" says Tan, adding that companies need to know who owns the data, who can use it and who is accountable for it.\nCybersecurity sharpens the same point, as AI agents can find and string together weaknesses faster than a human attacker can. \"Think about the autonomous agent force in the world and how they can attack you, stringing together all the vulnerabilities, identifying them quickly in seconds,\" says Tan.\nThose risks are why companies test new technology before it goes live.
