Apple (AAPL) will modify its App Tracking Transparency Framework consent prompts for personalized advertising on iPhones and iPads following a German antitrust review, the Bundeskartellamt said Monday.

Under the binding commitments, Apple will align consent prompts for its own and third-party offerings, remove potentially discouraging elements and give app publishers more flexibility to combine consent requests.

The changes will also simplify consent requests for third-party app providers, giving app publishers more flexibility to combine Apple's requirements with data-protection consent requests, the German regulator said.

The Bundeskartellamt said the changes address concerns that Apple's rules could favor its own offerings and disadvantage third-party app publishers, with Apple given four months to implement the changes. The commitments will apply for seven years under independent monitoring.

The German proceeding, which began in 2022, has now been closed, the report said.

Apple did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
