SpaceX (SPCX) and AST SpaceMobile (ASTS) have expressed interest in acquiring a swatch of spectrum held by Grain Management that can provide wireless phone services directly from space, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.
The licenses are available as a result of a spectrum swap this month with T-Mobile US (TMUS), the report said.
Grain has solicited bids by the first week of September, hoping to raise about $6 billion from the sale of the spectrum, the report said.
SpaceX, AST, and Grain did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
