Market Chatter: Alphabet's YouTube Probed by FTC on Suspension Policy

Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) YouTube is being probed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regarding consumer protection laws the social-media video platform may have violated when it limited or suspended the accounts of certain users, Bloomberg reported.

The FTC is reviewing whether YouTube users were deceived by policies that appeared to allow certain content, only to have it taken down or their accounts suspended, according to Bloomberg.

The FTC is reportedly in the final stages of preparing a potential lawsuit. However, Alphabet has not been accused of wrongdoing, and the FTC investigation may end without enforcement action, the report said.

Alphabet did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
