Nvidia Chief Responds to Bill Gates's AI Warning

Dow Jones01:12

Jensen Huang has responded to Bill Gates's criticism of big tech for barreling into artificial intelligence without a plan to manage the upheaval it could cause in its wake. In an interview with Fox Business Network, Huang said, "I see things very differently than he does."

Gates took aim at the lack of a transition plan into the AI era in a 5,784-word essay, focusing on the impacts to both blue- and white-collar jobs without a robust safety net in place. "Of course, there are jobs that will be changed," Huang said. "If you go back and look at history, when technology, revolutionary technology comes along, incredible advances come along."

Huang held firm to his prediction that AI would be a boon for jobs overall, despite also disrupting jobs across the board. "Overall, this is going to be a net job creator at a scale that we have never seen," he said. "I love the heck out of Bill, but I don't see what he sees."
