The Hartford (HIG) has partnered with the University of California, Berkeley's Bakar Labs for Energy & Materials to provide startups with practical insurance and risk-management expertise, the company said on Tuesday.
The collaboration will cover areas including case studies of early-stage company engagement with insurers, examples of changing risk profiles as companies scale, and guidance on evolving risk strategies as new technologies develop, Hartford said.
The company's engagement will be led by Y-Risk, a managing general underwriter owned by The Hartford, according to a statement.
Shares of the company were up 1.1% in Tuesday premarket activity.
