Summit Therapeutics (SMMT) partner Akeso reported "positive" results from a phase 3 trial of ivonescimab plus chemotherapy, compared with durvalumab plus chemotherapy as a first-line treatment of advanced biliary tract cancer, Summit Therapeutics said late Tuesday.
The ivonescimab-based regimen showed "statistically significant and clinically meaningful superiority" in the study's primary endpoint of overall survival, compared with the durvalumab-based regimen, the company said.
The trial, conducted in China, also met its secondary endpoints of progression-free survival and objective response rate, according to Summit Therapeutics.
The company's shares were up 4.5% in premarket activity Wednesday.
