Baht, Rupiah Seem Particularly Exposed to Rise in Fed Rate-Hike Prospects

0208 GMT - The Thai baht and the Indonesian rupiah seem particularly exposed to the rise in Fed rate-hike prospects, MUFG Bank's Lloyd Chan says in a research report. "Thailand continues to offer limited yield support [to baht], while elevated Brent prices are weighing on the external balance," the senior currency analyst says. "For Indonesia, higher U.S. yields arrive as investors are increasingly monitoring domestic developments," Chan says. Recent protests in Indonesia have highlighted concerns about living costs and jobs, while approval ratings for the government have fallen, Chan notes. The dollar is 0.1% higher at 33.15 baht and 0.4% higher at 17,750 rupiah, LSEG data show.
