Stellantis, Unifor Begin Contract Talks With Focus on Canadian Jobs, Unifor Says

MT Newswires Live00:06

Stellantis (STLA) and Unifor have begun negotiations on a new contract covering more than 9,000 workers at facilities across Canada, the Canadian autoworkers union said Tuesday.

A key priority is the future of the idled Brampton Assembly Plant, where about 2,200 workers are on indefinite layoff, the union said, adding that it also wants to secure production at the Windsor Assembly and Etobicoke Casting plants.

Unifor has set an internal deadline of Sept. 11 to reach a tentative agreement with Stellantis, it said.

Stellantis didn't immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
