Singapore Shares Open Higher as Trump Downplays Extended US-Iran Conflict

MT Newswires09-03

Singapore shares opened with modest gains on Thursday, supported by easing oil prices after US President Donald Trump signaled that the renewed conflict with Iran is unlikely to be prolonged.

The Straits Times Index (STI) opened 31.59 points, or 0.55%, higher at 5,775.70.

Trump told reporters on Wednesday that the US was ready to strike Iran, but he doesn't expect the renewed fighting to last "too long."
