Sony Group's (SONY) semiconductor division will build an artificial intelligence model for facility maintenance with Saudi Aramco, Nikkei Asia reported Tuesday.
The system will use high-performance image sensors to gather visual, infrared and vibration data to forecast equipment breakdowns, the news outlet reported.
The system will process information directly in the sensors to lower network bandwidth usage and may eventually expand to other industrial settings, the report said.
Sony and Saudi Aramco did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
