Varonis Systems Jumps on Report of Proofpoint Acquisition Talks

Shares of Varonis Systems gained after The Wall Street Journal reported that Thoma Bravo-owned Proofpoint is in talks to buy the cybersecurity firm, citing people familiar with the matter.
The stock climbed 10%, to $46.57, after the Journal's report late Wednesday afternoon and is up 43% this year.
A deal isn't guaranteed to come together as another buyer could emerge or talks could fail, the Journal reported.
Varonis had a market value of about $5 billion when the Journal published its report.
