New Zealand's Two-Way Trade Up 16% in June Quarter

New Zealand's two-way trade increased by 16% to NZ$64.88 billion in the June quarter compared with the prior corresponding period, Stats NZ data showed on Thursday.

Total exports rose to NZ$32.49 billion, up 14% from NZ$28.53 billion in the June 2025 quarter. Goods exports were up 14% to NZ$24.28 billion, while services exports rose 15% to NZ$8.2 billion.

Total imports of goods and services increased to NZ$32.39 billion, up 18% from NZ$27.46 billion. Goods imports went up 23% to NZ$23.41 billion, while services imports rose 5.7% to NZ$8.98 billion year on year.

Overseas trade indexes in the June quarter showed a 9% decrease in merchandise imports and exports under the terms of trade compared with the March quarter.

Goods export volume rose by 6.4% and goods export prices by 3.5%, while import prices increased by 14% and import volume fell by 2.1%, the report added. Goods export values rose 6.7% to NZ$21.2 billion, and import values increased 7.1% to NZ$22.8 billion.

The services terms of trade fell 2.1%, with services export prices climbing 1%, and import prices rising 3.2% for the quarter.
