NEC (TYO:6701), SB Payment Service and SB C&S have entered a partnership on facial recognition payment for the PayCas multi-payment service, according to a Friday release.

SB C&S will integrate PayCas with the Bio-IDiom Services for SaaS feature, which uses NEC's Bio-IDiom biometric authentication core technology and facial recognition technology.

Meanwhile, SB Payment Service will handle payment processing for the service.

Users can register their facial data and credit card details through a website, allowing them to make payments using facial recognition without presenting a card or smartphone.

The feature aims for more efficient checkout operations and a more comfortable shopping experience.

The initiative is part of a strategic alliance in the biometric authentication field between SoftBank (TYO:9434) and NEC.

SB Payment Service is a PSP company under SoftBank while SB C&S originated from the founding IT business of the SoftBank Group (TYO:9984).

SoftBank will test implement the facial recognition payment service from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30 at its Takeshiba headquarters' employee cafeteria.

Shares of SoftBank Group and NEC rose 9% and 2%, respectively, in recent trade.
