Eni (E) unit Plenitude's joint venture with CDP Equity, GreenIT, has started production at two solar parks in Italy's Piedmont region with a combined capacity of about 19 megawatts, the energy company said Tuesday.
The plants are expected to generate around 30 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually using about 32,000 bifacial solar panels with single-axis tracking systems, Eni said.
The projects were built on former extraction sites that were remediated and redeveloped, it added.
GreenIT has more than 300 MW of solar projects in advanced development and expects another 30 MW of projects in Campania and Piedmont to start operating between the end of 2026 and early 2027, Eni said.
