President Donald Trump announced on X on September 7 that a statue of Christopher Columbus has been placed at the entrance of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, directly adjacent to the White House. Trump stated the move honors the Italian American community, calling them "industrious, brilliant, wonderful people."

"Christopher Columbus proudly stands at the entrance to the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, directly adjacent to the White House, one of the most important Entrances to a Building in D.C. I did this in Honor of the Italian American Community — Industrious, brilliant, wonderful people. It is something that they have greatly appreciated!" Trump wrote.

The Eisenhower Executive Office Building, part of the White House complex, houses White House administrative offices. Trump's gesture is seen as a recognition of Italian American cultural contributions.
