Market Chatter: Alphabet's Google Modifies Search Results in Europe to Meet EU Requirements

MT Newswires Live09-08 19:58

Alphabet's (GOOG) Google has modified online search results in Europe to satisfy requirements under the European Union's Digital Markets Act, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing statements from the company.

Google said that the changes will lower the quality of search and degrade user experiences in Europe.

The European Commission had given the company 60 days to meet the Digital Markets Act's requirements or risk penalties of up to 5% of its total worldwide turnover, according to the report.

Google did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
