President Donald Trump announced on social media platform X on September 4 that the U.S. economy added 162,000 jobs in August, nearly triple the predictions of a Bloomberg survey. Trump attributed the strong number to his policies and framed it as a tribute to American workers ahead of Labor Day.
In his post, Trump said: "GREAT NEWS! Our THRIVING Economy added 162 THOUSAND Jobs in August, in honor of our Great American Workers who we celebrate this (and every!) Labor Day. This strong number is nearly TRIPLE the predictions of the Bloomberg survey's so-called 'Economists,' who continue to suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome."
Trump emphasized that his administration's "Fair Trade Policies" using tariffs have reset the global economy, bringing manufacturing jobs back to America at an unprecedented rate. He pointed to booming factory construction driven by full expensing — a one-year tax deduction — and predicted factories would soon be filled with American workers.
