U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on September 4 that Michael Cohen, the key witness in his legal cases, has "fully recanted" his testimony. In a social media post, Trump described Cohen as "the Prosecution’s Star Witness and, in actuality, only Witness in the New York State Attorney General and Manhattan DA Witch Hunt Cases brought against me."
Trump stated that Cohen was "pressured" and "coerced" to say things that were not true. He thanked Cohen for having "the Wisdom and Courage to step forward and do the right thing" and called his act "a Great Credit to the Justice System in New York City and State." Trump then called for the immediate termination and dismissal of what he called "politically weaponized cases."
The President accused New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg of breaking the law to prevent him from becoming president. "Their Star Witness said everything they did was WRONG and UNLAWFUL!" Trump wrote, adding that "Such a thing can never be allowed to happen again!"
