European Consumer Goods Companies Win with Premium, Science in China
Dow Jones09-07 13:50
0550 GMT - Despite a tough consumer outlook in China, L'Oreal's, Unilever's and Danone's premium offerings are clear bright spots in the country, according to analysts at Barclays. Winning in China depends on having products backed by science and having the right channel exposure, the analysts write. L'Oreal is likely to gain more market share through premium skincare brands, while Unilever seems poised to benefit from its strategy to premiumize power brands, they say. Further, Danone's premiumization should bolster its infant formula growth, despite a declining birth rate, they add.
