President Donald Trump posted on X on September 4 that the two-day G20 Innovation Ministerial in Chapel Hill, North Carolina was “very productive and historic.” He stated that innovation is back at the G20 and that countries around the world now understand innovation means growth and growth means prosperity.

Trump highlighted that Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) Director Michael Kratsios led a tremendously successful meeting of Business and Technology Ministers, achieving a “strong consensus”—which he noted is not easy. The consensus, called the Carolina Principles, includes investing, building, commercializing, and deploying emerging technologies, with “SMART Rules and Standards, NOT more Regulation.”

Trump said: “We are NUMBER ONE in Tech, and NUMBER ONE in A.I. — BY A LOT! The World is learning from the BEST. Other Countries should follow our lead!”

The post also described North Carolina as home to the Research Triangle, world-class universities, and “some of the smartest, hardest working people anywhere in the World.” Trump praised the event as a demonstration of U.S. leadership in technology and artificial intelligence.
