U.S. President Donald Trump said on social media platform X on September 14 that the White House was in very bad condition before renovation, both inside and out, calling it a “dump.” He stated that past presidents did not take care of the building.

Trump said he loved renovating the White House during his spare time, which is not much, and praised the Department of Interior and various contractors for doing a “fantastic job.” He posted before-and-after photos, noting that the exterior “skin” of the building was practically falling off and is now in better shape than when it was built in 1792.

“Such an Honor to have the privilege of saving this Great Structure! More time without renovation would have destroyed our beloved White House!” Trump wrote.
