Panasonic Holdings Corp. will not be exhibiting at CES in January, one of the world's largest technology trade shows held in the United States, the company has said. This marks the first time the company has decided not to participate in CES.
The major Japanese electronics manufacturer has exhibited at CES for 60 consecutive years since the event debuted in 1967, but decided to withdraw next year due to how communication channels have diversified.
"Although CES is an important opportunity for communication, we are prioritizing efforts to enhance corporate value and contribute to business growth, and are reviewing the overall approach to how we communicate," the company told The Yomiuri Shimbun in a statement. "Reducing costs is not our primary objective."
The company added that while it will not participate by itself, there is a possibility it will showcase its technologies and products at an industry group's booth. Whether the firm will exhibit in 2028 or later has yet to be decided.
Among Japanese companies, Sony Group Corp. did not exhibit at this year's CES.
