Broadcom's (AVGO) licensing revamp for VMware software after its $61 billion takeover is attracting deep scrutiny from European Union antitrust regulators, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing a questionnaire it viewed.

EU watchdogs have questioned cloud providers for more information ahead of a critical deadline in their ongoing dispute with Broadcom on the matter, the report said, citing the questions.

"Broadcom is aware that the Commission is gathering information from various market participants, as is common following a complaint," a company spokesperson said via email to MT Newswires. "We remain engaged with the Commission throughout this process."

The EU's European Commission didn't immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
