It has not identified approvals already received, but will seek the necessary clearances before offering fully autonomous rides.\nAn initial fleet of Jaguar I-PACE electric vehicles is due to arrive in the coming months as it establishes local operations. The company expects to hire for fleet maintenance, validation driving, customer service and other operational roles.\nWaymo's autonomous-driving system uses lidar, radar and cameras to monitor its surroundings, including pedestrians, cyclists and users of active-mobility devices. Before it is used for commercial trips in Singapore, trained autonomous-driving specialists will manually drive the vehicles day and night in 2027 to map Singapore and adapt the system to local road layouts, monsoon conditions and other operating requirements before seeking LTA's approval.\nWaymo intends to open the service to passengers through its app in 2028, subject to the necessary approvals. It will begin testing and preparing for its deployment in the western part of the island, starting with the Labrador and HarbourFront area. The initial use cases will include commuting, weekend travel and services for industrial areas with fewer transport options, shares Transport Minister and Second Finance Minister Jeffrey Siow, at Waymo's Singapore launch earlier today.\nAutonomous vehicles, he adds, are intended to supplement Singapore's transport network. \"Autonomous vehicles would add to the capacity of our taxi and private hire car fleet and fill some gaps.
