Asian Currencies Mixed Amid Falling Crude Oil Prices

Dow Jones11:39

0339 GMT - Asian currencies are mixed against the dollar amid falling crude oil prices. Oil prices are lower partly due to easing concerns about oil supply as markets look toward the next round of diplomacy that will shape the U.S.-Iran war, MUFG Bank's Michael Wan says in a research report. As many countries in Asia are net oil importers, declines in oil prices typically benefit them and their currencies. The U.S. dollar is 0.6% higher at 156.96 yen, 0.2% lower at 31.806 New Taiwan dollars, and little changed at 17,740 Indonesian rupiah, LSEG data show.
