Bavarian Nordic Appoints Former Sanofi Executive as New CEO

Vaccine maker Bavarian Nordic named former Sanofi executive Tarja Stenvall as its next chief executive, replacing longtime boss Paul Chaplin.

The Danish company said Thursday that Stenvall's appointment as CEO would become effective on Oct. 15. She most recently served as head of Sanofi's diabetes and cardiovascular-disease franchises, and previously worked at AstraZeneca and Pfizer.

Bavarian Nordic said in March that Chaplin would step down for personal reasons by the end of the year.
