Alphabet's self-driving technology unit Waymo is partnering with Singapore's Ministry of Transport and Land Transport Authority to introduce a fully autonomous, all-electric commercial ride-hailing service in 2028, according to a company statement on Thursday.
The company plans to introduce an initial fleet of Jaguar I-PACE vehicles in the coming months, with specialists conducting manual driving to adapt its tech to local road geometry and weather patterns ahead of a 2028 launch.
Waymo has reported more than 20 million fully autonomous rides and a 94% decline in injury-causing crashes compared to human drivers in the US.
