Hemab Therapeutics (COAG) dosed the first healthy volunteer in a phase 1 trial evaluating investigational HMB-003 for heavy menstrual bleeding, the company said Thursday.

HMB-003 showed greater activity than tranexamic acid in preclinical models, while a single subcutaneous dose in minipigs provided about one week of sustained antifibrinolytic activity, the company said.

The randomized, placebo-controlled trial is assessing HMB-003's safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in healthy adults.

Hemab expects to report results by mid-2027 that will inform development plans for heavy menstrual bleeding and other bleeding conditions, it added.
