UBS Expects a BOE Rate Increase in November

Dow Jones09-18 17:02

0902 GMT - UBS analysts now expect the Bank of England to increase interest rates in November, from previously forecasting a possible BOE rate cut in February 2027. This comes after Thursday's BOE rate decision where they voted to keep rates on hold, but noted that inflation risks are growing. "We think [Thursday's] meeting points to future policy tightening in the absence of a quick and substantial decline in energy prices," the analysts say. UBS expects the BOE to raise rates in November and in February, before switching to rate cuts in the final quarter of 2027. Markets fully price in four BOE rate rises by the end of 2027, LSEG data show.
