Infineon's Winbond Memory Deal is Positive

Dow Jones09-17

1009 GMT - Infineon Technologies' deal to sell its NOR Flash and F-RAM business to Taiwan-based Winbond Electronics Corp. for $1.12 billion is positive for the German chip maker, Bank of America's Didier Scemama writes in a research note. The business Infineon is selling includes a portfolio of flash memory and products for customers across the automotive, industrial and infrastructure end-markets. "In our view, the divestment removes a business with no direct participation in structural AI/data center growth, supports further deleveraging and has a negligible impact on EPS," Scemama says. Infineon shares trade 1.7% lower at 54.05 euros.
