CME's (CME) planned Nvidia (NVDA) GPU rental-price futures launch will be delayed after the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission extended its review of the contracts, The Information reported Tuesday.
According to the report, CME had targeted an early October launch of Nvidia H100 and B200 GPU rental-price futures using a Silicon Data benchmark, but the CFTC extended its review by 45 days to Nov. 9 to assess "novel or complex" issues.
The proposed futures could help hedge GPU rental costs and AI infrastructure financing risks, while the CFTC is assessing potential market manipulation risks in the fragmented market, the report added.
CME and Nvidia didn't immediately reply to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
