President Donald Trump on September 21 called on Senate Republicans to terminate the filibuster, warning that Democrats would otherwise use it to make future Republican victories impossible.

In a post on X, Trump said Democrats would admit Puerto Rico (4% Republican vote) and Washington, D.C. (3% Republican vote) as states, picking up 4 Senators and 8 House members, along with large numbers of popular and Electoral College votes, while gaining control of voting mechanisms and systems across the United States.

"It will be impossible for Republicans to ever win an Election again. In other words, it will be THE END OF AMERICA!" Trump wrote. He urged action to "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN" and suggested he could be the last Republican president if the filibuster remains.
