Archer-Daniels-Midland (ADM) said Monday it plans to enter the voluntary carbon dioxide removal market with credits generated by its 800,000-plus-ton-a-year carbon capture operations at its Columbus, Nebraska, corn processing complex.

Certification and issuance of the initial carbon removal credits are expected by year-end. After the certification and verification, Archer-Daniels-Midland will begin a 15-year crediting period, according to a statement.

The company's processing complex in Columbus includes wet and dry mills that transform corn into food ingredients, fuels and animal feed products, Archer-Daniels-Midland added.
