Disney is increasing prices on several of its streaming subscriptions, a person familiar with the matter said, following similar moves from rivals in recent months.
Standalone plans for the entertainment company's Disney+ and Hulu streaming services will now cost an additional $2.50, at $21.49 a month, the person said.
The increase puts the price of Disney's premium streaming plans more on par with competitor Netflix, which sells its ad-free premium service for $26.99 a month.
Disney also raised the prices of its standalone, ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu plans by 50 cents, to $12.49. The company also boosted the price of its ad-free Disney+ and Hulu bundle, but kept the price of the ad-supported version--its most popular bundle--flat.
The updated prices took effect for new subscribers Wednesday, and will go into effect for existing subscribers next month based on billing cycles.
Bloomberg first reported the price increases Wednesday.
The increases add to a slew of recent price increases across the streaming industry. Netflix raised prices across all of its plans in the U.S. in March, while Paramount boosted prices for Paramount+ in January. Warner Bros. Discovery's HBO Max similarly raised prices last fall.
