Bitcoin prices rose Monday to their highest levels in eight months leading to an advance among cryptocurrency-related stocks.
Bitcoin has risen 4.2% over the past 24 hours to $84,590, according to CoinDesk. The cryptocurrency traded as high as $85,166 intraday, its highest since Jan. 29. Bitcoin also was on pace for its highest 4 p.m. Eastern time price level since Jan. 28 when it traded at $89,004.47, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
Crypto stocks were advancing along with the cryptocurrency. Shares of Bitcoin investor Strategy rose 6.3% to $163.49 in premarket trading after ending Friday up 16%. Digital-asset exchange Coinbase Global was up 5.3% while online trading platform Robinhood Markets gained 4.7%.
It's been a good run for Bitcoin prices, seemingly against all the odds. Prices of the cryptocurrency were up four of the past five days and have advanced more than 7% this month.
That performance comes even as the Clarity Act collapsed and the Federal Reserve hiked interest-rates. But the world's largest cryptocurrency has shown resilience as the Securities and Exchange Commission last week issued temporary exemptions that would make it easier to offer tokenized stocks to investors.
