Roche Obesity Drug Candidate Adds to Positive Data with New Trial Results

0649 GMT - Roche Holding achieved positive results in a study for its obesity drug candidate enicepatide in adults with diabetes and obesity, building on a previous trial that showed efficacy in obese patients without diabetes, Vontobel's Stefan Schneider says in a research note. Patients with Type 2 diabetes who are either overweight or obese are an inherently difficult-to-treat patient population, the analyst says. The combination of a good proportion of diabetics getting back to normalized glucose levels and achieving sustained weight loss with enicepatide give the drug a competitive profile, Schneider says.
