European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Edge Higher in Friday Trading; Down for Week

European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were tracking modestly higher late Friday morning, increasing 0.31% to 1,915.69 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index, which is down 1.1% for the week.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS) and medical device maker EDAP TMS (FOCL), which rose 4% and 2.2% respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Evaxion (EVAX) and biopharmaceutical company Grifols (GRFS), which increased 2.3% and 2.2% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by accommodations booking site trivago (TRVG) and petroleum refiner Equinor (EQNR), which dropped 1.4% and 1.3% respectively. They were followed by biotech firm BioNTech (BNTX) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which lost 0.5% and 0.1% respectively.

The gainers from the UK were led by software firm Endava (DAVA) and communications company WPP (WPP), which advanced 9.1% and 2.7% respectively. They were followed by lenders Lloyds Banking Group (LYG) and Barclays (BCS), which increased 1.2% and 0.5% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies Akari Therapeutics (AKTX) and NuCana (NCNA), which fell 4% and 3% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies Bicycle Therapeutics (BCYC) and Amarin (AMRN), which were down 1% and 1.9% respectively.
