Tohoku Electric Power to Hike Power Prices in November

Tohoku Electric Power (TYO:9506) will raise electricity rates for all customers from Nov. 1, following an increase in wheeling service charges, according to a Monday Tokyo Exchange filing.

For residential customers under the Meter-Rate Lighting Plan B, the basic charge will rise by 41.11 yen per 10 amperes and the energy charge by 1.39 yen per kilowatt-hour, resulting in an estimated 485-yen monthly increase for a model household using 260-kilowatt-hour on a 30-amp contract.

For high-voltage customers under commercial power contracts, the basic charge will increase by 156.80 yen per kilowatt and the energy charge by 0.24 yen per kilowatt-hour.

The rate revision reflects higher wheeling charges from consolidated subsidiary Tohoku Electric Power Network, it said.
