OpenAI, Anthropic Reportedly Asked by White House to Delay UK Access to New AI Models

Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI and Amazon.com (AMZN)-backed Anthropic were asked by the White House to withhold new AI models from a UK agency until US authorities review them first, news outlets reported Friday.

Anthropic appears to have complied with the request from the US Office of the National Cyber Director by limiting Claude Mythos 5.1 to selected US organizations, Politico said, citing a person familiar with the matter and a senior US administration official.

The UK and its AI Security Institute continues to work closely with the US on AI security, Bloomberg reported, citing a British government statement.

OpenAI, Anthropic, and the White House didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
