Azerbaijan's SOCAR, which controls Italiana Petroli, will put price caps on its fuel throughout Italy, following Eni's (E) earlier move in the country, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said in a Sunday post on social media platform X that was translated by Google.
SOCAR's price cap is a "voluntary contribution" without new taxes or top-down imposition, the minister said.
On Friday, Eni announced fuels marketed by Enilive will be capped at certain prices for an initial 30-day period starting Monday, with potential extension through year end subject to market and supply conditions.
