1406 ET - The number of rigs drilling for oil in the U.S. rose by three this week to 455 and was up by 31 from a year ago, oil services company Baker Hughes reports. U.S. crude oil production has been running at record levels around 13.9 million barrels a day, according to the EIA which projects output will average 13.8 million b/d this year and close to 14.3 million barrels a day in 2027. "The rig count is up so we're going to have more crude oil coming down the pipe," says Mizuho's Robert Yawger. "We kind of need it here in the States." Natural gas rigs increased by 1 to 135, which was 18 higher than a week ago.
