MTR, Government Reach Settlement in Railway Project Disputes

MT Newswires Live10-02

MTR (HKG:0066) reached a settlement with the Hong Kong government over long-standing disputes related to two major railway projects without admission of liability by either party.

The company agreed to pay HK$2.25 billion to the government under Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link project settlement.

All major issues related to the Shatin to Central Link project have also been settled, with some exceptions, without the payment of any settlement sums.

The state-owned public transport operator believes the settlement will help avoid lengthy and costly dispute resolution proceedings.
