TradingKey - Tesla (TSLA) is about to hold a highly anticipated new vehicle launch.
Tesla stated that the next-generation Roadster, originally scheduled for its official debut in Texas on October 1, has now been postponed to October 15. The model has suffered multiple delays since it was first unveiled in 2017 and is now back in the market spotlight.
For Tesla, the importance of this launch goes beyond introducing a high-performance electric sports car. The Roadster has long been viewed as a platform for Tesla to showcase its technological capabilities. As this re-debut coincides with the company's need for new products and growth catalysts, the market is also closely watching whether it can provide new upward momentum for TSLA's stock price.
Previously released official performance metrics for the Roadster were already quite aggressive, including 0 to 60 mph acceleration in 1.9 seconds, a top speed exceeding 250 mph, and a range of up to 620 miles. However, these specifications come from Tesla's current official website, and the exact configuration of the final production version will remain to be confirmed at the official launch.
What New Technologies Does the Roadster Have? SpaceX Thrusters and Active Rear Wing Take Center Stage
Market rumors have surfaced multiple times previously that Tesla plans to equip a special version of the Roadster with SpaceX cold-gas thrusters to enhance vehicle acceleration and dynamic performance through extra thrust. The Information previously reported that early demonstration concepts even involved enabling the vehicle to briefly hover above the ground. However, these details currently remain confined to media reports and plans disclosed by sources, and the specific demonstration method as well as whether it will ultimately be realized remain subject to change.
What is more certain at this stage is that Tesla did link SpaceX propulsion technology to the Roadster, but its ultimate capabilities and whether it can be applied to production models still require confirmation during the official presentation on October 15.
Meanwhile, a newly disclosed U.S. patent document adds another highlight to the Roadster's performance upgrades.
A patent application disclosed by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on September 24 describes a deployable active rear wing system. The structure can switch between different driving modes, altering the angle of the wing surface to increase downforce or reduce aerodynamic drag, while incorporating a safety feature that automatically retracts the wing in a collision. The vehicle in the patent drawings is a low-slung, two-door sports car, leading outside observers to link it to the next-generation Roadster.
However, it should be noted that the patent does not explicitly state that the system will definitely be equipped on the production Roadster. Patent filings by automakers do not guarantee that the technology involved will ultimately make it into production vehicles.
If the active aerodynamics system is ultimately implemented, its function is very clear: to increase vehicle stability and tire grip at high speeds, while minimizing aerodynamic drag in low-drag scenarios. For an electric sports car that emphasizes extreme performance, the practical value of such technology may be even more important than merely chasing higher peak horsepower.
Tesla Stock Price Technical Analysis

Source: TradingView
Tesla shares closed at $352.84 on the 29th, down 1.29%, and have now fallen below the 20-day moving average of $365.36 and sit slightly below the 60-day moving average of $355.17. Although the stock previously broke above the descending trendline, it encountered resistance in the $375–$385 range, with short-term upside momentum weakening noticeably.
To the downside, the immediate focus is on the $350–$352 support area. If the daily closing price falls below $350, the stock may further retest the 0.236 Fibonacci level at $333.85, followed by the $320 level and the low of $296.87. Resistance on the upside is concentrated between $355 and $365; only after regaining a solid footing above this zone can it challenge $375.21. A heavy-volume breakout above $375 could open the door to subsequent targets at $393.70 and $420.01.
The RSI has fallen to 44.80, crossing below its signal line of 53.96 and the 50 centerline, indicating that bears hold the upper hand in the short term, though it has not yet entered oversold territory. The delay of the Roadster unveil to October 15 may weaken near-term event catalysts; until the stock reclaims $365–$375, the technical outlook remains range-bound with a bearish tilt.
