Technology stocks accounted for 43% of average daily trading activity, climbing from up to 25% in recent years, led by momentum in artificial intelligence names, The Standard reported Monday, citing Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Chief Executive Officer Bonnie Chan Yi-ting.
Bonnie said that the data pointed to a change in investor strategy, resulting in increased demand in tech-focused public listings in the region. However, she emphasized striking a balance and not saturating the market with just tech stocks, the report said.
Hong Kong's main board will continue to accept applications from technology companies but also ensure firms from other sectors are included to avoid tech overcrowding, Bonnie reportedly said.
