The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) has opened an investigation into vertical power delivery systems and related computing products after Vicor Corporation filed a patent infringement complaint, according to an Oct. 9 news release.

Vicor alleges that imports and sales of the products infringe its patents.

It has asked the USITC to issue a limited exclusion order and cease-and-desist orders, according to the statement.

The investigation names 20 respondents, including Luxshare Precision Industry (HKG:2475, SHE:002475), Hon Hai Precision Industry (TPE:2317), also known as Foxconn, Delta Electronics (TPE:2308), Infineon Technologies, Monolithic Power Systems, Flex, Celestica, and Quanta Computer.

Luxshare said its controlled subsidiary, Dongguan Luxshare Technologies, was also named. The products involved are used in data center power supply solutions and remain in customer validation, with mass production yet to begin.

The company does not expect the investigation to materially affect its current operations or financial results.

Luxshare has begun reviewing the patents and products and is preparing its response.

The commission has not made a substantive determination on the allegations, and the outcome remains uncertain, the company said.

The USITC will determine whether the products violate trade rules, and it will set a timeline for completing the investigation within 45 days of its launch.
