Corteva (CTVA), now focused on crop chemicals after its spin-off of Vylor (VYLR), faces a challenging industry environment that adds both upside and downside risks, UBS said in a Monday note.
Generic products from China and India have been pressuring prices in the past three years, and while the pressure has started easing, Corteva looks set to face rising raw material costs into 2027 due to commodity price inflation, UBS analysts said. They expect the company's organic growth at around 3% through 2029, with assumptions of prices increasing less than 1% per year and volume growth of 2.5% to 3%.
Crop chemical industry volumes have returned to growth, and Corteva has opportunities to boost its sales volumes above the market average if it introduces new products, the analysts said.
The company's profit outlook largely depends on the balance of prices and costs in the next one to two years, with new product growth expected in 2028 and beyond, according to the note.
UBS maintained the company's stock rating at neutral and adjusted the price target to $15 from $90 to reflect the company's stand-alone value.
