Meeka Metals (ASX:MEK) said it started decline development at the Turnberry underground mine, which is part of the company's Murchison gold project in Western Australia, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.

First ore from the decline is expected in January 2027, lifting production and adding a further high-grade ore source for the processing plant, the company said.

The mine has an initial underground ore reserve of 50,000 ounces at 2.5 grams per tonne grade of gold, and the current underground mineral resource stands at 360,000 ounces at 3.9 g/t, per the filing.

Meeka Metals said underground drill platforms will be established off the decline in the coming months to drill out and extend mineralization and mine life.

The company's shares gained past 2% in recent Monday trade.
