TSMC to Add Another 3nm Fab in Taiwan

MT Newswires Live10-15

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TPE:2330), d/b/a TSMC, will add another 3-nanometer fab in Tainan, Taiwan, with volume production scheduled for the first half of 2028, Chief Executive C.C. Wei said Thursday.

Wei said the decision was driven by strong customer demand. TSMC's existing new 3nm fab in Tainan remains on track to begin volume production in the first half of 2027.

The company is also expanding overseas capacity. Its second fab in Arizona is scheduled to begin volume production in the third quarter of 2027, slightly ahead of its previous schedule, while its second fab in Japan is planned to use 3nm technology, with volume production scheduled for 2028.
