Alphabet-owned (GOOG, GOOGL) Google's YouTube has held discussions with publishers in recent months about developing an audiobook feature, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.

The offering could be ready next year, and YouTube has weighed including it in its ad-free YouTube Premium, the sources told WSJ.

YouTube did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
